A Step Back In Time...

I wanted to share a project with you that I just completed for Hunter House Victorian Museum in Norfolk, Virginia. I was so honored to have been contacted and commissioned by them to create some very special jewelry pieces using original china from the home. Hunter House is a circa 1894 Victorian Mansion built by prominent merchant and banker, James Wilson Hunter. The family home is rich in architectural details and the house displays the family’s collection of Victorian furniture and decorative pieces. I was sent original, but damaged china from their archived collection that the family used around the turn of the century. I created a number of brooches for the tour guides to wear and also a limited number of pieces that will be for sale in their gift shop. The museum was a delight to work with and this very special project is the perfect example of what I love to do…creating sentimental jewelry using vintage components. If you happen to be in Norfolk, I highly recommend a visit to this wonderful museum!
